We all know the old adage that rain on your wedding day means good luck. As an avid connoisseur of sappy romance novels, I’m a firm believer that rain only adds to the drama—in the best way! In the case of Caitlin and Collin’s late September wedding day at the Willows at Ashcombe mansion, rain was inevitable. But the result? The early fall blooms and lingering summer greenery looked even more vibrant after a brief rainfall passed through. The smiles and laughter as rain descended on the uncovered outdoor ceremony were even more genuine. And we all know an overcast sky means gorgeous glowing skin tones. Win win win!

Wedding Day Getting Ready Photos
As the rain fell outside, Caitlin and Collin got ready alongside their wedding party in the comfort of the Willows’ beautiful getting ready suites. The groomsmen enjoyed a moody vibe watching football, playing foosball, and donning their tuxes by @theblacktux.
Caitlin and her girls got pampered by @mkupthebeautystudio in the glamorous hair and makeup suite surrounded by velvet accents, patterned wallpaper, and gorgeous views of the venue’s grounds.
Give me a vintage claw foot tub, rich, velvet drapes, and a full length Anthropologie mirror and we might not make it to your portraits on time. Joking—but we had such a blast playing around with getting ready photos in this amazing suite!
Outdoor Wedding Ceremony at The Willows at Ashcombe
The faint pattering of raindrops accompanied by the delicate chords of live violin and guitar set the stage for Caitlin and Collin’s joy-filled wedding ceremony. In the time it took Caitlin and her parents to make their way down the aisle, Collin had already made it through three emotional states: patient anticipation, holding back happy tears, and finally, grinning from ear to ear.
The couple exchanged the sweetest promises to each other, surrounded by loved ones, and comforted by the peaceful drizzle of September rain. Flower petals joined the delicate shower as the couple made their way back down the aisle as husband and wife!
Cocktail Hour and Wedding Reception
Back inside the Crystal Dining Room, the party truly began! Guests sipped signature cocktails under crystal chandeliers and enjoyed amazing passed hors d’oeuvres catered by @thejdkgroup. Guests then made their way into the Grand Sperry Tent for a beautiful seated reception dinner.
I have to take a moment to shout out the amazing @misslyssplanning team! Caitlin envisioned this chic telephone booth to house their voicemail guest book during their wedding reception. Miss Lyss Planning made it happen by enlisting the help of her dad to custom build this masterpiece! Once Caitlin transformed her look with this knee length corseted dress, AF1’s, and half-up party pony, the dance floor turned into a night club and the celebration didn’t stop.
