Not only was this late August day a perfect 75º and sunny, it was also bursting with color, pattern, and design in all the right places. Shannon and Brian embraced a palette of butter yellow, blush pink, soft greens, and sage, and wove those tones throughout everything — from the blooms to the bridesmaids’ dresses.

From the textured florals to the mix-and-match gowns, the visual harmony was real. Add that to the vibrant landscaping and the beautifully tucked-away photo ops, and you’ve got a wedding day that felt tailor-made for this garden venue.

Some of my favorite design elements:

• The summer wedding color palette: sage, soft greens, olive, butter yellow, and blush pink
• Bridesmaids in mixed patterns, silhouettes, and tones
• Groomsmen in classic suits to anchor the pastel color palette

Shannon’s Modern, Romantic Bridal Style

I’m calling it: this dress was a moment. Designed by @danytabet via @ticbridal, Shannon’s wedding dress featured a structured bodice with lace detailing and a delicate lace hem.

And when the sun filtered through that lace just before the ceremony? I gasped out loud. One of the most unique and fun bridal looks I’ve captured all year.

Wedding Ceremony Space at The Gardens at Applecross

Shannon and Brian’s ceremony felt like stepping into a storybook. It was soft, heartfelt, and sun-drenched in that late-summer glow you can’t manufacture. Their floral installations in soft yellow and blush felt like a natural extension of the gardens themselves.

Some of my favorite design details of The Gardens at Applecross’s outdoor ceremony space include:

• The ceremony site nestled beside a panicle hydrangea hedge
• The unique handmade pergola that serves as a ceremony backdrop
• White Crepe Myrtles along the walkway, surrounded by perennials and floral installations
• The iconic Fieldstone waterfall and flagstone bench seating
• The thoughtfully designed outdoor reception space with a bar and sprawling gardens

Ballroom Reception & Garden Party Details

After the ceremony, guests flowed into an outdoor cocktail hour near the garden bar (yes, it’s as lovely as it sounds) before heading into the Windows on the Gardens ballroom for dinner and dancing.

This indoor space is airy, elegant, and effortlessly romantic, complete with white sheer draping, wooden truss beams, and enormous windows that overlook the gardens just as twilight sets in. Shannon and Brian’s reception included heartfelt toasts, twinkle lights, and a packed dance floor thanks to the incredible DJs from @ebetalent.
