I couldn’t stop smiling as I edited Scarlett and Darius’s wedding photos at Terrain Gardens at DelVal. Every image brings back vivid memories of this absolutely action packed day in mid October. From their sunset soaked portraits in the meadow to Darius’s surprise ceremony entrance, I had a field day trying to narrow down the highlights.

Needless to say, their gallery is huge, the sunset photos are unreal, and I mayyyy have gone a little crazy by delivering almost 400 portraits. 🙊 Outdoor fall weddings in PA truly don’t get better than this.

Scarlett & Darius at Terrain Gardens at DelVal

Scarlett and Darius’s wedding day at Terrain Gardens was an autumnal dream draped in boho textures, golden light, and some wildly unforgettable surprises

(spoiler: there were doves. And acrobatics. Truly iconic behavior).

Their love story began on Valentine’s Day 2018, and the energy between them still feels like that first date kind of magic. They found me through Instagram, and from the very first message, I knew this was going to be a celebration full of heart, joy, and unique flair.

Fall Wedding Color Palette at Terrain DelVal

Scarlett and Darius chose a warm, earthy palette—think terracotta, cream, and dusty rose—that played perfectly with the natural beauty of Terrain Gardens.

The pampas grass filled bouquets (crafted lovingly by Scarlett’s mom!) beautifully complemented the glowing textures of the bridesmaids’ satin rust colored gowns from Birdy Grey.

Scarlett’s Wedding Dress from Daydream Bridal

I’ve you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m a sucker for a showstopper wedding dress design (like this recent one Shannon wore at the Gardens at Applecross!). To say I was giddy when Scarlett stepped out in this elegant puff-sleeved moment might be an understatement.

This gown from Daydream Bridal was an actual dream. It floated with every step like it had been made for a meadow at golden hour. Which, incidentally, is exactly where we shot their portraits as the sun dipped below the hillside and made time stop.

The detachable sleeves also gave Scarlett a totally different reception look later in the evening—love!

Most Unforgettable Moments

Where do I even start?

• Darius flipping—literally—down the aisle to say their “I do’s.” I’ve photographed hundreds of weddings across Philadelphia and beyond, but this was a new one for me. (Also: 10/10 execution.)
• Surprising Scarlett with a dove release during their ceremony. Yep, actual doves. Every Disney Princess dreams of this moment.
• An epic sunset that seemed to glow just for them.

Did I also conduct a mini photoshoot with the most stylish guests during cocktail hour? Yes. Did I very enthusiastically tell this man that he reminded me of Harry Styles? Also yes.

In my decade plus of photography experience across Pennsylvania and Delaware, I’ve noticed that late October through early December produces some of the most killer sunsets.

Brianna and Anthony’s Winter Celebration at Terrain Devon was no exception!

Can’t you just feel the warmth of this sunset glow?! My obsession with those little light flares you get behind the lens might be a sickness and I’m totally okay with that.

The People & The Party: Wedding Reception at Terrain Gardens

Every wedding is about more than just the couple—it’s also about their people. And Scarlett and Darius’s crew brought the love, the laughs, and concert level energy.

Their wedding party was effortlessly stylish in burnt orange and cool-toned neutrals, and they fully leaned into the celebration (see: groomsmen hoisting Darius and the Hora-style chair lifts on the dance floor).

Shoutout to DJ @nomacarenadj for keeping the dance floor energy electric, and to @sweetgingercakery for the vintage-inspired cake that made all our buttercream piping dreams come true.

• Warm market lights strung between oversized chandeliers
• Oversized windows and shiplap covered walls
• Open-air courtyard perfect for ceremonies or cocktails
• Plenty of lush, seasonal plant life throughout the grounds (think golden grasses in fall, fresh florals in spring, and cozy textures in winter).
